  • Record Format name in Table

For V5R4: CREATE TABLE qtemp/cusmst (cusname CHAR(20), cuszip CHAR(10)) RCDFMT cmfmt CREATE TABLE qtemp/myfile as (select fld1,fld2...fld9 from xyzlib/abcfile) with no data RCDFMT ircd For prior versions RENAME TABLE statement could be used in conjunction with the SQL CREATE TABLE to control the record format name for SQL-created objects

    Record Format name in Table

I know this is possible just don't remember how. I want to create a table (SQL) and change the format name so it isn't the same name as the table. How do I do this? TIA Bill

      Record Format name in Table

I just heard this from Skip Marchesani at Common in Columbus last week. V5r3 and before creates tables with the same name as the record format. You can change the table name, but not the record format name. For versions prior to v5r4, create the table with the record format name you want to end up with, then change the table name to something different.
