  • what r the forbidden & mandatory services in AS/400

System services on the 400 run in subsystems like QCMN, QHTTPSVR, QSERVER, QSNADS, QSYSWRK, and so on. We also have a cleanup service called QSYSSCD that runs perpetually in QBATCH2. You can check your active services by running the WrkActJob command. There isn't really a configuration file as such. Many services automatically start themselves, and lots of services that are optional also have options to autostart. Another key source of job startups is the autostart program. The name of this program is configurable and is specified by the system value QSTRUPPGM. The source code for this program is found in, by default and convention, QCLSRC in library QGPL. Note that this too can be changed. One way of tackling this issue is to look at the running services and then look them up on IBM's support website, www-912.ibm.com/supporthome.nsf. Simply search for the names of the running programs. It's not pretty, but it will work.

The terms "mandatory services" and "forbidden services" are not part of the AS/400 nomenclature. You will not find any listings as such. Gain a greater familiarity with the AS/400 architecture. It is not Unix. The single level store, and 64-bit object based hardware and software rely on different mechanisms, and therefore have different naming conventions. You will have to rephrase your question, in order to obtain a fuller answer. Dave

This is different for every AS/400 depending on what software options are running. Using the WRKACTJOB command, you can see virtually everything. Dave
