Are you sure that this wasn't the "X-Series". I should very much like to see these ads. Dave

IBM Left and Right hands not talking

Actually the i Series ThinkPad existed before the rebranding of the AS/400 to the iSeries eServer. There is also a cell phone from Motorola called the iSeries.

      What is IBM thinking?
Have you seen the new ads on TV and in print for the iSeries?
Yes, IBM is actually airing ads specifically for the iSeries.
Unfortunately, it's for the ThinkPad iSeries line of notebook computers.
Can you imagine that the PC division of IBM doesn't even know that iSeries was already used within IBM? Or, more likely, do you think this is a slap in the face of Rochester by a sister division? I can't imagine that the brand name iSeries just popped into their head. This can't be coincidence, it must have been deliberate.
What is IBM thinking? Talk about brand confusion. If it isn't confusing enough to abandon the popular AS/400 name for iSeries, they don't even give the AS/400 exclusive use of the iSeries moniker.
I'veheard lots oftalk about the AS/400, er iSeries, getting no respect and I guess that this proves it! Even IBM doesn't respect the iSeries nameany more.
