  • How to use the Gateway server ?

I know how to start the gateway server. The problem is how do I access or run it to see my AS/400 displays (with a browser?), with the Gateway server conversion from 5250 to HTML. How would I add a graphic in the display? By compiling it with the HTML function in my DDS.

Gary - From a browser, enter href="http://as400name:5061/wsg"> href="http://as400name:5061/wsg">http://as400name:5061/wsg 5061 is the TCP/IP port that services WSG Not sure how you would add a graphic. My experience at V3R7 (at V4R2 now but haven't tinkered with WSG at this level) has been that, if the user, password, etc. fields are not at the 'default' (unmodified sign-on screen) location(s), WSG will not accept logon data but I've just been playing so it could be something that I'm not doing correctly. Also, from a useability (sp?) point of view, WSG isn't something that you want to turn users loose on, I primarily use it when I don't have access to 5250 emulation and I *have* to get on the /400. Are you referring to the 5250 Gateway? If so, then none of your applications need to be recompiled. Graphics may be added by using the HTML keyword within your DDS, however doing so may unbalance your screen. You will have to experiment with a variety of settings. A word of caution. 5250 Gateway screens tend to be, uh, let's just say ergonomically challenged. If you have a budget for such things, there are better products out there, which will accomplish the same things. David Abramowitz
