  • 5494 APPC device at RCYPND

We have a 5494 controller set up at a remote site. Beginning 01-03-00, we began having a problem with an APPC device coming up RCYPND. The funny thing is that the device comes up okay on Mondays but Tuesday - Friday we are having to vary it off and back on again. The only difference I know of is that during our nightly backup (M-F) our operator selects an option to power down and restart the system automatically. On Saturdays, the system uses the power schedule to shut down and powers back on early Monday mornings. I have searched the QHST log, but have not been able to pinpoint the problem. Has anyone run into this before or have any ideas? Thanks, sererey@nwol.net

Start with the basics for a 5494. 1) Bring it up in setup mode to make sure it is recognizing all devices. 2) Check the diskettes in the 5494 for version level. You could be way outdate.

Another thought is to set the parameter Switched disconnect to *NO on both controller configurations.
