  • Netsoft & TCP/IP

We're using Netsoft for our desktop interface to the AS/400. I'm switching from an SAA gateway to direct TCP/IP. With SAA, I can specify a session name in the Netsoft setup. With TCP/IP, it appears that all my users are going to look like a pass-thru device and get device descriptions (QPADEV####) allocated on the fly. This seems like a major drawback. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Sorry Roger, but I don't have experience with NetSoft. But I do have experience with Client Access. The ability to name a TCP session exists in V3R2 (it might have been introduced in V3R1M3) and it works fine. Bill

We use Netsoft and all of our TCP/IP connected devices have unique names. If you use TELNET - you cannot. You may contact me for a person to speak with at our site if you need specifics. DDETWILER@HNCBANK.COM
