  • Network Time Protocol - AS/400

Is anyone aware of or had experience with using NTP on AS/400 to synchronize time from a network? My understanding is that it would be handled via Level 2 Multicasting, but it appears that RIP is the only such protocol currently (V4R4) supported. So am I correct in assuming that I would need to write my own SOCKS programs in order to do anything with it? Thanks for any responses.

    Network Time Protocol - AS/400

Check out the August 2000 issue of MC. Alex Garrison has an article in there, "Keeping Time with the AS/400", that describes a utility he wrote in Java, which can be downloaded from the MC Website, that synchs the system time with the atomic clock at the naval observatory. It's really cool! Works for your AS/400 or NT network or both.
