On a 9406-170 with v4r4, after an IPL, would TCP/IP come up by itself, or would you have to set it up to do that on purpose. No one can get connected to our 400 this morning(thru CA and the LAN).

Is TCP/IP subsystem auto start?
Normally, you put the TCP startup in your QSTRUP program. Not only that, you need to start your host servers as well. Typically, you'll run the STRTCP command. This starts TCP/IP as well as any of the TCP/IP servers you've marked as autostart. Most people have the TELNET server as an autostart server. If it isn't, you'll have to start it manually. You'll also want to start your host servers, because client access doesn't run real well without them. Now, it's a matter of security to determine which ones to run and which not; different host serves provide different capabilities. But STRHOSTSVR *ALL should definitely bring you online. Joe

Unless you set it up in the autostart job in in a subsystem description it normally doesn't start automatically. Edit your start up program and see if the STRTCP command is there. Also make sure that TCP host services and other host services are being started.
