  • two ethernet cards one IP address

We have two ethernet cards installed in our AS/400. The network admin wants to know if we can configure one host table entry for both of these cards? We want to have one card communicate with our sequel servers and the other with our client access users. The sequel servers are configured with the host table entry and they do not want to reconfigure this. So, by having the other card with the same host name will then route the sequel servers to the other card. Does this make sense?! Has anybody done this or know if this can be done. Thanks. Sherri

two ethernet cards one IP address

I have something similiar where I have a token-ring card and an ethernet card. I have them defined with two different IP addresses. I think you should be able to do that, are you using DNS on the 400. As long as you have a machine on your network with a DNS entry to match your IP host addresses. Also are they on the same subnet. You will have two line descriptions that will be configured via cfgtcp to the two different resource names.
