  • AS/400 DHCP problem

Denis - Do *all* of your PCs get IP addresses from the /400? Or do you have some that have static addresses? If so, are these excluded from the range available to DHCP? We occasionally run into this problem and it's usually because someone has set a static address on a printer (or other device) that is in the valid DHCP range. You can sometimes check by turning off the PC that gives you the error and PING the IP address. If you get a response, try to TELNET to the IP address. If you get a logon screen, it will sometimes tell you the OS of the system that you are TELNETing into. If you get a blank screen, press once or twice. If it's still blank, enter a ? and press . If you get a help screen, that is usually a printer. HTH, Steve

    AS/400 DHCP problem

Hello all, We recently started to use our AS/400 to serve DHCP adresses. Every thing seem to be working fine except that we started to receive error on our workstations. The error states that there is a conflict in addresses as if 2 host were assigne the same IP address. This appens 2 to 5 times a week. Did anybody else had this experience? If so, how did you solve it? Any input will be apreciated

The error arrives with PC configured to use DHCP. In our setup, adress 10.131.2.1 to 10.131.2.50 are use for devices that need fixed adress (printer, server ...). The DHCP server is configure to serve adress between 10.131.2.51 to 10.131.2.250 We reveive the error with adresses in the dinamic range.
