  • Conserve their Password

On Monday, January 04, 1999, 10:03 AM, Mitchel wrote: I need to transfer the Users Profiles from a machine with OS/ 400 v3.1 to another with v4.3, but to my I would like others that the users conserve their password. How I could I do it? I assume you mean "preserve their password" not "conserve". That being the case, on the V3.1 machine use the command SAVSECDTA. This will save User Profiles and Authorization lists (and some other stuff too). Then, on the V4.3 machine, use the command RSTSECDTA to restore those profiles. HTH

    Conserve their Password

Mitchel, You may be able to do what you wish with the Retrieve Enchrypted User Password (QSYRUPWD) and Set Encrypted Password (QSYSUPWD) APIs. Read the descriptions of these APIs for more informaiton. They should be documented in the security section of the System Programer's Interface Reference book. Ed Fishel
