Please let us know "Why it is not secure if we take backup on Tapes?". Problem: In case we get backup of any Library "which library has some restricted access authority" on Tape Catrage, through any level of UserProfile. Is it secure? No. According to our experience this tape can be uploaded to another AS/400 with the authority of QSECOFR of that AS/400 because this person have authority of All Objects. Question: Our question is this that how we can secure our data if we ignore physical Security. Imran A Shah Dawood Hercules Chemicals Ltd. 35-A, Empress Rd. Is is not Secure: Back up Tape(SavLib)
Imran, Think of it this way. Security access is like having doors with locks and users have the keys. Most individuals will have keys to some locks, but not others. QSECOFR has the master key, it will fit any lock no matter who designed it. There will never be a lock he can't open. Now, you bring a lock from another house into your house. QSECOFR can open this lock becuause he is the master of every lock. color=red> Question: Our question is this that how we can secure our data if we ignore physical Security. So, to use our example, you want to be able to leave the front door open, but create a lock that the master key can't open. The only way I can think of would be to create a lock that he doesn't recognize. In other words, encryption. Bill
