ProData Computer Services, Inc. announces  a new release of Remote Database Connect (RDB Connect). RDB Connect 4.0 offers developers full SQL access to other IBM i databases and to remote databases from an RPG, COBOL or CL program on the IBM i. The newest release features a menu-driven interface, improved functionality and seamless error handling. RDB Connect 4.0 is available on the ProData website and can be downloaded and used for 30 days at no charge.

RDB Connect 4.0 allows users to access cross-platform, real-time data on remote systems using APIs to execute any SQL query. The software supports access to MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Postgre, DB2 database and others. RDB Connect 4.0 communicates directly with these remote databases from all high-level languages on the IBM i. This allows record level I/O as well as the the import/export of remote data, to and from the IBM i, and can be used in batch or interactive programs.

“RDB Connect drives our DBU Remote Database plug-in which allows our database utility to access remote databases. Many of our customers wanted that same remote database access integrated within their business applications“, said ProData owner and CEO, Allen Hartley. “RDB Connect allows our customers to easily share data across platforms within their programs, which can eliminate data transfers or duplicate data entry in some cases. RDB Connect 4.0 makes it even easier with the new interface provided for first time users.”

With this addition, ProData continues to offer a feature-rich product line that loyal followers have come to expect. The performance & functionality of each utility continues to provide quick and easy methods to access databases and to enrich development environments.
