Gartner expects employees at 90 per cent of American corporations to be using IM by the end of next year. Estimated by IDC to reach 180 million business users, the corporate instant-messaging market is a growth market that will profit from integration efforts. Instant Technologies selected Lotus Sametime ® as the company’s initial instant messaging platform to integrate into other applications because of its robust architecture that makes it so appropriate for corporate adoption and because of its commanding market share in the corporate instant messaging market, estimated at 80 per cent of corporations over 1000 employees (Osterman Research). Likewise, Instant Technologies selected Microsoft Outlook ® as the first email platform for integration with Lotus Sametime because of its strong presence in the corporate email market, estimated at 57 per cent of corporate desktops this year (Ferris Research). Together these industry-leading applications offer a commanding base of users who can profit from integration of these two applications, and who will fuel Instant’ growth.
