Carpet Manufacturer Opts for JD Edwards' EnterpriseOne Over Completing its SAP Installation

Oracle has announced that The Dixie Group, a leading marketer and manufacturer of carpet and rugs to higher-end residential and commercial organizations, has chosen to implement Oracle's JD Edwards EnterpriseOne instead of completing its SAP installation. Oracle was selected based on its flexible, standards-based architecture, textile industry functionality, and ability to integrate with third-party applications.

Relying on Oracle applications, The Dixie Group has consolidated disparate IT systems, simplified transactional data processing, and prepared for future growth, the companies said.

Over the past 12 years, The Dixie Group has evolved from a traditional yarn and fabric supplier into a carpet company, selling the majority of its textile assets and acquiring nine carpet companies. As a result, the company needed applications that would support its new business model and deliver more robust functionality. Formerly a SAP customer, The Dixie Group considered migrating to Oracle as part of an extensive search for a new IT solution.

Oracle's JD Edwards EnterpriseOne was selected based upon superior, industry-specific functionally that satisfied Dixie's immediate business needs and offered the scalability to support continued growth. Dixie also found that Oracle was less complex to deploy and maintain compared to similar offerings from SAP, the company said.

The ability of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne to integrate with Dixie's third-party, textile specific transaction system and its compatibility with the IBM System i platform also led the company to choose Oracle.

"Our decision to implement JD Edwards EnterpriseOne has enabled us to reduce the operational complexities associated with our business re-organization without sacrificing the service and quality our customers have grown to expect from us," said Dixie Group Vice President of Planning and Development Jon Faulkner. "We've gained needed visibility, streamlined internal processes, and prepared our business for its next generation; our investment in Oracle was clearly the right choice."

With JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, Dixie is streamlining data entered through the third-party transaction system to synthesize key performance indicators reported by various departments within the organization. Dixie has also simplified its payroll detail and incorporated an incentive element based on employee productivity and performance quality. Benefiting from additional automated business processes, Dixie has enhanced its general ledger structure by being able to align it with the current business needs for more robust reporting.

Dixie is currently live on JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Financial Management and JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Human Capital Management. Dixie plans to maximize its investment in Oracle by continually upgrading to the latest version of Oracle's JD Edwards EnterpriseOne and eventually migrating to Oracle Fusion Applications.
